Start with your county and legal issue
Find a published regional legal-aid intake route for every one of Oregon’s 36 counties, plus specialized legal assistance and volunteer programs.
Free legal assistance depends on income, case type, conflicts and program capacity. Advice clinics and online answers provide limited help; representation requires separate acceptance. Firm participation listings document pro bono work and explain how cases reach the firm. They do not establish an open public intake or a lawyer available today.
Lincoln County: start with legal-aid intake
These offices publish a service area that includes Lincoln County. Contact the program before traveling. Regional coverage does not mean it has an office in this county or accepts every type of case.
Published county-to-office directory ↗
- LASO Lincoln County Office ↗ · 541-265-5305
Call during intake hours or leave a message; other appointment times may be arranged.
Low-income residents of the listed service counties; the office screens income, case type and other eligibility requirements. Oregon Law Help describes LASO generally as serving incomes up to 125% of the federal poverty level, with some exceptions.
Service on reservations does not mean every tribal-law issue is within this regional office’s practice. Acceptance depends on financial eligibility, case priorities, conflicts and available staff; applying does not guarantee representation. These are civil legal-aid routes, not a general criminal-defense service.
These regional starting points remain visible when you filter the directory. Ask intake whether your issue is within its priorities.

Prepare for intake
Have your county, deadlines, court papers and a short description of the problem ready. Ask about income documentation, language assistance, disability accommodations and whether help is advice only or representation. Use the program’s official intake channel for private documents. A directory listing or submitted request does not create an attorney-client relationship or extend a deadline.
The Oregon State Bar pro bono program does not match clients with volunteer lawyers. Its general referral and Modest Means programs charge fees; Modest Means offers reduced rates for eligible cases. Those services are separate from free legal-aid intake.
For criminal charges and other proceedings that may qualify for appointed counsel, contact the court about its application process. See your court’s contact and procedure links and the Bar’s public defender information. Appointment and financial eligibility require a court decision.
