Ask the small-business ombudsman about an agency problem
Resources, agencies and counties · resources
What this source covers
Check whether a state or local government dispute qualifies for OSBA assistance and describe prior resolution attempts.
How to use it
Who this route is for: Oregon small businesses and nonprofits with 100 or fewer employees. OSBA works directly with the owner/principal or authorized corporate representative.
Prepare: Business identity and employee-count information; Agency name and decision or correspondence; Chronology of attempts to resolve the issue; Information about appeal rights or pending proceedings; Owner/principal contact details
How to proceed:
1. First try to resolve the problem directly with the agency and keep correspondence.
2. Read OSBA’s exclusions and check for an available appeal or alternative remedy.
3. Have the business owner or principal contact OSBA using the page’s contact route and describe the problem and prior attempts.
4. Disclose appeal rights, litigation or a contested case so OSBA can determine whether it may assist.
Timing and notices: Preserve any agency appeal deadline independently; OSBA will not investigate when appeal rights or an alternative remedy remain available.
